What it is
The Home Repair Resource Center facilitates down payment assistance for income-eligible buyers throughout Cleveland Heights — now up to $30,000 for a single-family home and up to $50,000 for a two-family home, structured as a 0% deferred second mortgage that is partially forgivable. Income limits (80%–120% of area median income) and sales-price caps apply.
How it works
- Complete HUD-approved pre-purchase and home maintenance counseling (certificate required).
- Bring your minimum 3.5% contribution — gift funds are eligible.
- Your lender submits the assistance application to HRRC along with your first-mortgage commitment.
Note that the property must pass certain conditions — defective paint corrected before application, and health/safety code violations fixed before occupancy is approved.
